Introduction

• The Holy Spirit often misunderstood or underemphasized.
• He is the breath and power of God, active in us today.
• We need His Spirit to live the life God has called us to live.

Breathing Patterns – From the Father to His Children

• Genesis 2:7: God breathes life into man, making him a living being.
• We were formed for relationship, not just physical existence.
• Without His breath, we are form without function.

Breathing Patterns – From the Son to New Life

• John 20:21-22: Jesus breathes on the disciples and says, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”
• Salvation is God breathing new life into spiritually dead people.

The Fire Falls — Our Turn to Breathe

• Acts 2:1-4: Wind and fire at Pentecost; the disciples are filled with the Holy Spirit.
• The Holy Spirit fills us so that we may breathe the breath of heaven out for others.

Prepared, Primed, and Powered

A. Prepared People

• Exodus 19:5-6
• 1 Peter 2:9-10
• We are formed for His presence, chosen to carry His Spirit.

B. Primed People

• John 14:16-17
• John 16:7-15
• We are primed by Jesus’ promises — prepared to receive and pour out the Spirit.

C. Powered People

• Acts 1:8
• The Holy Spirit empowers us:
  • To witness boldly
  • To love supernaturally
  • To pray effectively
  • To walk in spiritual gifts
  • To live a victorious life
